Why The Name "Snow Diamond"?

One of the things we love about living in the mountains is the always-changing landscape that nature provides, winter and summer. It’s an embarrassment of riches, with colorful wildflowers painting the hillsides in summer, and sparkling snow diamonds turning up the wattage in winter.

When the sun shines on a blanket of new snow and reflects off various sized facets, it looks for all the world like a field of glittering diamonds. It’s a dazzling display, and reminds us of how lucky we are to live in such a special place.

And sometimes, when conditions are just right, tiny crystalline ice particles hang suspended in air, animated by the sun. We watch in awe as these snow diamonds create a veritable fairyland right before our eyes. The vision is fleeting, but the magic endures.

So why “Snow Diamond Alpacas”? Well, when we think of the gentle alpacas that grace our farm, they seem to us like another kind of gift from nature, every bit as unique and beautiful as the shimmering snow diamonds we have come to love. If a diamond is defined as a valuable gem, then these animals with their sweet dispositions, comical expressions and curious nature are, indeed, diamonds in the snow.

Take some time to get to know our Snow Diamond Alpacas. If they try to steal your heart, don’t resist. You’ll be the richer for it.
