Golden Thunder Wins at Fall Shows

Pre-Shearing-Thunder038-cro.jpgWhen Snow Diamond Alpacas purchased Sunset Hills Golden Thunder at the AOBA National Auction in May, he came with 9 Color Champion banners and 1 Reserve Banner.  He had certainly proven a point with that record, but we itched to have 10 Color Championships for this stately stud.

So we entered him -- and his fleece -- in the Mid America Show and Fall Festival, both of which took place in late October - early November.   Here are the results:

  • 1st and Color Champion - Halter at Mid-America
  • 1st and Reserve - Fleece at Mid America
  • 2nd - Halter at Fall Fest
  • 1st, Color Champion and JUDGE'S CHOICE - Fleece at Fall Fest

Okay, we're satisfied!!

Judge Amanda VandenBosch said, "This three-and-a-half-year-old working male excelled in conformation and fleece. He has nice balance, a pleasing typey head, and a very even and consistent fleece. The density is there, while he still maintains his fineness."

We will probably retire Thunder from the show ring, now that he has proven once again that he has the goods. He is, indeed, a working male these days, and his show record speaks for itself.
