We may be late to the party, but yes, we now have a blog. A web log. A sort of farm diary that is there for all to see. (Yikes!) It will be called The View from Snow Diamond, and although we do have an enviable view of the Sisters volcanic mountain peaks from our farm, the aforementioned view refers to our viewpoint, or perspective on just about anything remotely related to alpacas.
I most likely will be the author of most posts because it comes closest to fitting into my job description, and because I like to write. And because I like to tell people what I think. But for all intents and purposes, the viewpoints are “ours” much more than they are “mine.” From time to time, Don and Austin will weigh in when the spirit moves them, and that means I get to take the day off. Obviously, I welcome their participation.
If you don’t know us, here’s the thumbnail sketch: After breeding alpacas for five years in Colorado (Steamboat Springs), we moved to Bend, Oregon. We’ll always love Colorado and our many alpaca friends there, but Oregon has been good to Snow Diamond Alpacas. We have irrigation, 35 acres of fully usable land and only occasional and moderate snowfall. (We like snow! Just not 60 inches in a single month.) More to the point, the climate for doing business with other alpaca breeders is much enhanced here, compared to Steamboat. Don’t ask me why. I’m not sure and I’m not asking questions. I think maybe it’s an equine thing, as I know there’s a gift horse involved.
So read ‘em and cheer, or read ‘em and weep. Either way, read ‘em and let us hear back from you. That’s what the little box is for at the bottom of the page. Now it’s your turn.
